The UK’s largest and much-loved malt loaf manufacturer, Soreen, has announced the majority of its products will now be vegan-friendly for 2021, having already expanded their vegan range throughout 2020.

All flavours of Soreen’s Lunchbox Loaves, Loaf Bars and Core Loaves are now vegan and carry our Vegetarian Society Approved trademark. They arrived on supermarket shelves at the start of the new year, just in time for Veganuary – a growing and highly popular movement, encouraging people to embrace plant-based diets during January.

Soreen produces over 3 million units a week for sale throughout the UK. The product is renowned for being a healthy, nutritious and treat-like snack for people of all ages, to be enjoyed anytime, before, during or after exercise, or as a tea-time treat.

Mark Simester, Managing Director at Soreen commented: “Similarly to other retailers, we have witnessed a growing demand for vegetarian and vegan snacks. We have already been moving towards a more plant-based product range with the launch of our Vegan Chocolate Loaf Bars this year as part of our new Loaf Bar Multipacks, however we’re delighted to now bring our consumers even more vegan choice for 2021.

“We have been working hard to launch a full vegan range, ensuring to retain that squidgy texture and treat-like taste that Soreen is notorious for. The results from our taste panel sessions have been a huge success and as proud supporters of Veganuary, we’re pleased to be able to offer an even wider range of vegan products including our iconic original malt products ready for January 2021.”

In light of the increasing popularity of Veganuary, supermarkets have also been progressively expanding their plant-based ranges to accommodate for the growing consumer trend.

Soreen tell us its individually wrapped Lunchbox Loaves and Loaf Bars, as well as Core Loaves are packed with real fruit pieces and provide a source of fibre. Lunchbox Loaves are school compliant, all under 100 calories and contain 50% less sugar than the average cake bar, and all three Loaf Bars (malt, banana and chocolate), contain over 30% less sugar and 70% less fat than the average cereal bar.

Mark added: “Our fruit products are naturally vegan-friendly snacks so haven’t been reformulated, however we’ve now been able to create a vegan malt range, [with] great nutritional credentials alongside delicious taste and texture.”
