The Great British Bake Off was back on our TV screens in September. To get members and supporters in the mood, we launched our very own Virtual Bake Off. Bakers could enter their favourite vegan or veggie sweet treat. From multi-colour icing cakes, brownies or scones, whatever it was, we wanted everyone to show off what they could do!
Thank you to the bakers who participated, by donating £3, getting their apron on and sending photos of their delicious baked goods.
Congratulations to the winner Paul, who made a Vegan Raspberry Ruffle Cake!
Paul’s Vegan Raspberry Ruffle cake really impressed the judges, Sam (Head of the Cookery School) and Ngwafu (Assistant Cookery School Manager). Here’s what they had to say about the winning bake:
“The raspberry ruffle cake was beautifully decorated with lovely pops of colour from the dried raspberries. The cake looks really moist and has a great crumb. The contrast of the chocolate icing and coconut and raspberry inner looks delicious. I love the retro theme. I can imagine enjoying a big slice of this as a treat with my afternoon coffee. Yummy!”
Thank you to everyone who entered the Vegetarian Society Virtual Bake Off. Every donation you make helps us to inspire more people to go and stay veggie.
