The clocks have gone back and the dark foggy evenings have begun. There’s a chill in the air, a smell of gunpowder and the sound of nearby fireworks. You’ve had to dig out your winter coat, gloves and hat – you’re almost ready to join in the fun… All you need now are some ‘banging’ treats to ‘set it off’.
So to help you out we’ve had a good look through our long list of accredited products to come up with five vegetarian and vegan essentials for bonfire night (in no particular order).
Quorn Hot Dogs (Vegetarian)
An absolute bonfire night essential! Get yourself some buns, fry off some onions and top with mustard and ketchup – bang!
Freedom Mallows – Strawberry (Vegetarian)
Who doesn’t love toasting a marshmallow on an open fire? Trying to find ones that don’t contain gelatine on the other hand can be difficult. Look out for Freedom Mallows they have lots of varieties.
Linda McCartney Mini Pork & Apple Sausage Rolls (Vegan)
Linda McCartney’s sausage rolls are a classic crowd pleaser amongst vegan and vegetarians but these are a newer edition to the family. This flavour is great around this time of year and the mini rolls make perfect bite sized finger food.
Baxter’s Spicy Parsnip Soup (Vegetarian)
This soup is a classic autumnal warmer, take a hot flask full out with you whilst you gaze in awe at the fireworks.
Pukka Pies Veggie Tikka Masala Pie (Vegetarian)
Pies aren’t typically associated with Bonfire Night but they’re great for picking up and taking along with you. The flaky pastry comes to life once heated in the oven, this one’s filled with chickpeas and spinach and is cooked in one of Britain’s favourite sauces – tikka masala, a proper winter warmer.
