A simple conversation led to a big change for a wild-craft forest kids’ group, leading to them doing their bit to eat to beat climate change.
When six-year-old vegetarian, Bruce, was going on a forest adventure day, it looked like he may have to miss out on one of the activities. The children were planning to cook sausages over a campfire, but they weren’t having veggie ones. To make sure Bruce could take part, his mum Sam, who is also the Head of the Vegetarian Society Cookery School, got in contact with the organisers, offering to bring along some veggie alternatives. She also mentioned how providing plant-based food is an easy way to be more inclusive and also reduce the group’s environmental impact.
To Sam’s delight, the group followed her suggestions. Not only did they make sure Bruce could join in with his friends on that day, but the wild-craft forest group have now switched to veggie sausages for all their future activities!
This is a fantastic example of how just talking about veggie food can lead to big change. To save the planet we need more people making changes like this and starting to eat to beat climate change.
Why don’t you ask a group you know to take part? You never know where your conversation will lead.
