The European Vegetarian Union (EVU) has a vision for the future of vegetarian food.
In their new proposal, ‘Three Pillars for a Sustainable European Food System’, the EVU calls for an ambitious change in the European food and agricultural policy landscape. This will be the foundation of their lobbying efforts during the next legislature period.
The proposal highlights the consequences of unsustainable farming methods and the benefits of plant-based alternatives. It suggests:
1. Utilising the potential of plant-based foods.
2. Facilitating a regulatory framework for dietary change.
3. Using the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) to ensure sustainable food production and consumption (as well as animal and environmental protection).
